Sixth Form Boarding News

Sixth Form life is set to change!

In Sixth Form girls develop their independence, enjoy a huge extra-curricular programme, are part of a global community and boarders in particular extract all they can out of each and every day.

We are investing in brand new Sixth Form facilities.

For September 2020 entries to Sixth Form, The 6 will be all yours!

We will open The 6 in Autumn 2020.

What's new?

We are building new Sixth Form boarding accommodation and a day and boarding social space - creating The 6.  This build is about quality not quantity. The number in the Sixth Form remains, with the same mix of exceptional young women from the local area, across the UK and across the globe.

On the ground floor will be what can only be described as an epic common room space for all the sixth form.  Newspapers, comfortable sofas and quiet areas, a fully equipped kitchen, epic toasters and hot water geysers!  This will form the heart of The 6 community.

On the first and second floor will be modern, spacious twin-bedded rooms with smart furnishings and lots of storage space.  Boarders will also have a Snug on each floor for weekend relaxation.

The build has begun!

IID Architects have designed the building and our alumna Helen Whateley is a key member of their team. Having been a St Cat’s student who better to shape our future.  The demolition crew are on site and after eight weeks they will hand over to the appointed builders.

What benefits will this bring to your daughter?

  • A spacious common room
  • Generous modern bedrooms
  • Bright shared and private bathrooms
  • Snugs for relaxation

As well as their existing Speech Hall Library - a Sixth Form only quiet learning and research space.

What is in place now?

In the interim, while The 6 is being built, flatpack and prefab take on a new dimension.  We now have a contemporary, albeit temporary, building in the grounds of Langwood at the eastern edge of the School.  It is smart, airy and light years away from pre-conceived notions about impermanent accommodation and will be ready for our boarders in September 2019.
