Chess at St Catherine’s has become very popular with both Preparatory and Senior girls. Girls can join the Chess Club or attend Chess Masterclasses with International Chess Master, Mr Andrew Martin.

The Chess Masterclasses take place on Mondays from 4.45-5.30 in room 12.

Chess Practice sessions take place on Tuesdays 1-1.30 in room 12 with Mr Son Ng.

The English Chess Federation

St Catherine's, Bramley, is the proud sponsor of the ECF National Schools girls' team event.

In 2014/15 the tournament almost doubled in size from the previous year and the 2015/16 event was even more popular.

The tournament continues to grow and the 2018 championships broke all existing records for a female-only chess event in the UK.
