Association Choir

St Catherine’s Association Choir is one of the cornerstones of the Association and is now in its 13th year.  We meet at School during the Autumn and Spring Terms on Wednesday evenings to rehearse and socialise, and we welcome all members of the St Catherine’s community and local friends.  There is no audition and many of us have not sung since we were at school but enjoy music from the classical repertoire of choral works.

Come and sing with the Association Choir

We are very excited to announce that this year we will be singing a brand new work by Howard Goodall  - Invictus: A Passion.  Howard is an EMMY, BRIT and BAFTA award-winning composer of choral music, stage musicals, film and TV scores.  You may well recognise him as a presenter of music programmes on both television and radio.  In recent years, he has been England’s first ever National Ambassador for Singing, the Classical Brit Composer of the Year and was Classic FM’s Composer-in-Residence for 6 years.

The piece enjoyed its premiere in the USA in May 2018 and we are likely to be one of the first amateur groups to perform it in the UK.  The text of much of the work comes from female authors and poets.

In addition, we will also sing a short work by Haydn, Insanae et vanae curae.  Professional soloists will be performing the Goodall alongside us.
